The biggest drag was chips and memory: the group fell 4.25%, which took about 0.73 percentage points off the index. Next came the Mag 7 (-0.97%, 0.55 points) and software and other tech (-2.95%, 0.19 points). The selling was narrow: 53 of 100 stocks rose, so the fall sat in the largest names. Food and household (+2.93%) and industrials (+1.27%) finished higher.
